【摘要】:Chlorinatedcompoundscanleadtocorrosionofequipmentandpoisoningofthecatalyst.Chlorinatedcompoundsalsopresentahealthhazardwhenincompletelycombusted.Chlorinecontentofpetroleumproductsisdeterminedpriortotheirbeingrecycled.Note18212;FederalRegulationsmandatethatoftenthechlorinecontentofusedoilmustbedeterminedbeforerecycling.Thesetestmethodscanbeusedtodeterminewhenausedpetroleumproductmeetsorexceedsrequirementsfortotalhalogensmeasuredaschloride.Itisspecificallydesignedforusedoils,permittingon-sitetestingatremotelocationsbynontechnicalpersonneltoavoidthedelaysoflaboratorytesting.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofchlorineinusedoils,fuels,andrelatedmaterials,including:crankcase,hydraulic,diesel,lubricatingandfueloils,andkerosene,allcontaining60;25%(mass/mass)water.1.1.1Bromideandiodidearealsotitratedandreportedonamolarbasisaschlorine.1.2Theentireanalyticalsequence,includingsampling,samplepretreatment,chemicalreactions,extraction,andquantification,isavailableinkitformusingpredispensedandencapsulatedreagents.Theoverallobjectiveistoprovideasimple,easytouseprocedure,permittingnontechnicalpersonneltoperformatestinoroutsideofthelaboratoryenvironmentinunder10min.Thetestmethodalsogivesinformationtorunthetestwithoutakit.1.2.1TestMethodAispresettoprovideagreaterthanorlessthanresultat1000mg/kg(ppm)totalchlorinetomeetregulatoryrequirementsforusedoils.1.2.2TestMethodBprovidesresultsoverarangefrom200to4000mg/kgtotalchlorine.1.3Forbothtestmethods,positivebiaswillresultfromsamplesthatcontaingreaterthan3%(mass/mass)totalsulfur.Whileafalsenegativeresultwillnotoccur,otheranalyticalmethodsshouldbeusedonhighsulfuroils.1.4TestMethodB,LowerLimitofQuantitation8212;Intheround-robinstudytodevelopstatisticsforthistestmethod,participantswereaskedtoreportresultstothenearest100mg/kg.Thelowerlimitofquantificationcouldthereforeonlybedeterminedtobeintherangefrom870to1180mg/kg5.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificsafetystatementsaregiveninSections3,6,and7.
