【摘要】:Thetreadofatire,theannularbandthatcontactsthepavement,normallycontainsgeometrictreadpatternelementsthataredefinedbygroovesorvoids.Theseareemployedtoconferappropriatetractionpropertiestothetire,mainlyonwetorsnow-coveredroads.Onecharacteristicfeatureoftiretreadpatternsthatisimportantforbothtractionandtirewearbehavioristhepercentorx201C;fractionalx201D;groovearea.Thegroove-areafractioniscalculatedwithrespecttothetotalorgrosscontactarea.1.1Thispracticecoversatechniqueformeasuringthegrooveorvoidareaofatiretreadpattern.Thevoidareaismeasuredontheinkedimpressionofatiretreadstaticallyloadedagainstheavyweightpaperonaloadplaten.1.2Thisprocedureisintendedtoserveasareferencepracticeformeasuringgrooveortreadpatternvoidareasinatire-footprintimpression.Thistechniqueisusablebyanylaboratorywithoutspecialequipmentalthoughmoresophisticatedproceduresarealsocommonlyemployed,suchasopticalorvideocameraprocesses.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
